“Western Armenian for the English-speaking world” is an introductory, yet complete first-year course for adults in the English-speaking world. It is a handbook for both the prospective teacher and the student of Armenian. However, the full guidance given in this textbook will allow motivated learners to use it for self-instruction as well.

Of the two existing versions of standard Armenian, Eastern and Western, the present textbook deals with the latter, the language of Armenian communities in most countries of the diaspora. This book incorporates the recent achievements of applied linguistics into the instruction of Western Armenian. 

Although grammar is treated as an important aspect in mastering the language, other linguistic areas also receive attention. The main body of the book includes 12 units, each of which contains the following sections:
