The historical and cultural heritage of the Armenian Highland with its rich and diverse layers, powerful pre-Christian and Christian traditions forms an integral unity and has an original history dating back thousands of years. A history that is simultaneously full of political and military, historical and social upheavals, with achievements and losses, various disasters and hardships, joys and sorrows, which have inevitably left their mark on the historical and cultural heritage of the Armenian people.
Here it should be noted that the present-day Republic of Armenia is just a small part of the Armenian Highlands: about one-tenth of it, though the Armenian people living and creating here are at the same time the bearers of a whole cultural heritage that, as a result of internal developments as well as external influences, has been created and enriched in the Armenian Highlands over the millennia. It is obvious that, due to its geographical location, the Armenian people have had close political, military, commercial and, of course, cross-cultural relations with different civilizations and peoples from time immemorial, and they have borrowed and lent experiences related to cultural spheres, the study of which until today attracts researchers from all over the world.
In this book an attempt was made to summarize and present only a small selection of the original material and spiritual cultural heritage of the creative Armenian people, which, in line with current scientific perceptions, will become a way to discovering and recognizing the Armenian history and culture.
