The Armenian community of Thessaloniki, history, present situation and prospects

The Armenians of Thessaloniki organised themselves into a community in the early 1880s. Since then the community has undergone a number of - frequently dramatic - demographic and social changes. Its development is thus especially interesting, not only for the contemporary history of Thessaloniki, but also as a discrete chapter in the history of the Armenian diaspora.
