“Shen-Mah”, pseudonym of Archbishop Torkom Manoogian, Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem, a prolific writer, who is gifted with an innate talent for the fine arts, especially poetry, has taken up the exacting but pleasurable pursuit of translating English poetry into Armenian.

One who reads his Armenian version of the sonnets of Shakespeare, realizes that it is not translation as much as it is a rendition or rather a personal interpretation. He has just borrowed the theme, without tampering with the original substance matter, and clothed and adorned it with fascinating Armenian poetry, such that each poem is in itself a genuine creation of Armenian poetry.
